Bonnyville Chamber of Commerce Embracing Modern Workforce Practices
November 15, 2024 Bonnyville, AB – The Bonnyville Chamber of Commerce is announcing an upcoming transition in its leadership team. Current Executive Director Serina Lyons will be relocating to the United States with her family for a period of two years. Despite this move, Serina will remain closely connected to the Chamber and its mission, continuing to assist with advocacy and operational efforts in a contract capacity as a consultant.
To ensure seamless leadership during Serina’s relocation, Megan Wakefield will assume the role of Interim Executive Director. Megan brings a wealth of experience to the position, with 15 years of dedicated service to the Bonnyville Chamber. Her extensive knowledge of Chamber operations and deep commitment to the community will be invaluable as she takes on this new role.
“The Bonnyville Chamber is proud to be a leader in how and where we work,” said Serina Lyons. “In today’s evolving workforce landscape, we believe in working with staff in ways that benefit both the organization and our team members. I am fully committed to the Lakeland region and will continue to travel to the area, ensuring my support for the growth and prosperity of our community. While I may be working remotely for a short period, I am deeply rooted to the Lakeland region and look forward to the learning opportunities this will bring.” This strategic approach allows the Bonnyville Chamber to maintain its strong advocacy and support for local businesses while adapting to modern workforce practices. The Chamber is looking forward to continuing to serve the community and its members, with a member first approach.
“Everything we do, and continue to do, will be about bringing value to our business community,” said chamber President, Lise Fielding. “Whether that is through new initiatives like the Chamber Perks app or the new Future Business Builders Scholarship Program. We are confident that our strong team will continue the great work that we expect of them.” The Bonnyville Chamber has recently hired a new employee to assist with member relations and marketing. Alyssa McKibbon has already proven to be a strong asset to the team and with her expertise, Megan’s knowledge of chamber operations and Serina’s strategic guidance, the future of the Chamber remains steadfast.
The transition will take place April 1, 2025. If you have any questions, feel free to contact Serina Lyons at [email protected].
